Blogger Corps' first success story in Kentucky

Submitted by Rebecca MacKinnon on Fri, 2005/02/18 - 5:00pm.

Bob Cornett recently wrote to say that thanks to a blogger who found him through Bloggercorps, the Grandparent Coalition is born.

Bob writes: "Our blogger coach--the one we found through bloggercorp--has become a
full-fledged partner.
We couldn't be more pleased. Thanks much."

I think it's worth pointing out that the "blogger coach" also has gotten something out of his service with the Grandparent Coalition. When discussing why he tries to avoid strict hyperbolic political categories, he writes:

The second is a weblog I have set up for an education activist group in Kentucky. They are conservative (most of them were govt and education administrators) yet we work together because we all see the current conservative administrations educational policies as destructive ...

Just goes to show that BloggerCorps can bring together bloggers and non-profits, but also help bridge political differences to form common solutions.

Thanks Oso,

Just to clarify, I hold Bob and his colleagues at the Grandparent Coalition http://grandparentcoalition.blogspot.com  in such high esteem because I sense in them a positive and progressive conservativism (constructive and restoring)... along the lines of the Kentucky author/agrarian/activist Wendell Berry and the Quaker/theologist/educater Parker Palmer and the Indian biologist/activist Vandana Shiva and the environmentalists at Orion magazine http://www.oriononline.org    ...

These conservatives above, in no way, should be confused with the so-called neo-conservatives that have gathered around the Bush presidency--they are destructive, restrictive, wasteful and intolerant.  The neo-conservatives practice a monoculture of the mind that threatens our democratic society.
