BloggerCorps aims to connect blogger-volunteers with non-profit organizations and activists in their local area. While those of us familiar with blogs can easily see the benefits of blogging (and sometimes even assume that everyone recognizes these benefits), these new technologies are only now becoming more widely known outside the usual blogging circles. Non-profit projects are especially well-suited to benefit from the power of blogging, but may not have the technology resources internally to get started. That's exactly where BloggerCorps can make a difference...

How You Can Help

If you're comfortable with blogging and are interested in helping others start blogging as well, here are a few easy steps to get started with BloggerCorps...

• First, register here on BloggerCorps.org. Joining the site lets you participate in the discussion forums, and lets you post to the site.
• Once you've registered and logged in, you should add yourself in our Bloggers area. This is how activists and non-profit organizations in your area will be able to find you, so you want to include any information or specific skills you think might be useful. To do this, create a new blog post and add two specific categories: (1) "Blogger" to specify that you're a blogger willing to help, and (2) a location tag for your state or region. (Note: We recommend using the site's PrivateMsg feature and NOT posting your email address or mailing address online, to avoid any privacy concerns you may have.)
• You can browse the list of projects needing help on our "Help Needed" page. Feel free to add comments and discuss projects and how you may be able to help.
• Check our discussion forums and join the conversations. Another way BloggerCorps can help is by offering fast answers to simple problems that people are running into. These questions may be from activists in an area, or could even be from other bloggers running into questions beyond their blogging expertise, and if you can help answer questions, you can immediately start helping others even before (or in addition to) working with activists in your area.
